Noel Hayman, Professor
Prof Noel Hayman is an Australian Aboriginal General Practitioner and a Public Health Physician with a dedicated interest in Indigenous health. Based in Queensland, he was one of the first Aborigines to complete a degree in medicine at University of Queensland, at which he is now a lecturer. Aftre being the community physician and manager of the Indigenous Health Service at QEII Hospital Health Service District and also Visiting Medical Officer for Queensland Corrective Services and Australasian Correctional Management Pty Ltd, Noel is now Clinical Director of the Inala Indigenous Health Service, which won the 2007 Queensland Health, Southern Area Service, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Excellence Award in " Achievement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service Delivery.
In 2003, Noel received the Centenary Medal Award that honours those who have made a notable contribution to Australian society, because of his long service to primary health care in Aboriginal communities. This year he also received the Queensland Health Australia Day Achievement Medallion for his contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of people. Recipient of numerous research grants, his massive contribution to education includes numerous presentations on Indigenous health.
In 2007, Noel received the ANTaR Queensland 'Close the Gap Indigenous Health Award' and the Queensland Health, Southern Area Health Service, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Excellence Award in "Outstanding Community Leadership".
Noel is on a number of committees, is involved in many community organisations and brings his expertise in Indigenous health to Andrology Australia as a board member.
